College girl found hanging in hostel

A college girl was found hanging in a government controlled girls' hostel for backward class students at Aranghata in Nadia district, police said today.

Shampa Mondal, a BA first year student of Chakdaha College, was found hanging in a room locked from inside last night.

Mondal, a resident of Tehatta area of the district, used to stay in the Aranghata Tapashili Chhatri Niwas.

It appears she committed suicide and a love affair is probably the reason behind it, police said.
