Commodities rule firm in Chennai foodgrains market

A firm trend was witnessed in the wholesale foodgrains market, with a majority of commodities posting gains during the week ended today.

Prices of thoor dal, urad dal, moong dal, gram dal, and sugar moved up while that of maida and sooji declined as compared to the previous week's closing rate.

Wheat remained unchanged.

Thoor dal, urad dal, moong dal, sugar and gram dal closed the week at Rs 7,300, Rs 7,400, Rs 9,900 and Rs 3,250 per quintal, netting a gain of Rs 300 and Rs 200 each, respectively over the previous weekly close.

Gram dal closed the week at Rs 3,950 with marginal gain of Rs 50 over the previous week close.
 

Maida and Sooji (both 90 kg) declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 2,350 and Rs 2,500 from its previous weekly close of Rs 2,450 and Rs 2,600, respectively.

Price of wheat ruled steady throughout the week.
