The Delhi Congress today staged a 'ghar wapsi' protest outside the secretariat building here, slamming "long absence" of AAP leaders, including that of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his ministers and party MLAs, who were campaigning in Punjab and Goa.

Out of the 66 AAP MLAs, (It had 67 but Jarnail Singh, Rajouri Garden, recently resined to contest Punjab elections) 52 had gone out for election campaigns in Punjab and Goa, the protesting Congress workers said.

The whole Cabinet, including the Chief Minister, was out of the capital, and it was befitting to give them a "ghar- wapsi welcome" as is done traditionally in the country, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken said.

Congress workers, including large number of women, carried colourful 'kalash' (pitcher) on their heads and lighted lamps in their hands to accord a protest welcome to Kejriwal, his cabinet colleagues and MLAs.

It is learnt that Kejriwal, who participated in hectic campaign for AAP in Punjab and Goa, will return to Delhi tomorrow.

"Did the people of Delhi, who elected 67 AAP MLAs to serve them, deserve such a fate when the entire Cabinet went out for political gains elsewhere in the country, leaving the development works in the capital to a total halt?" Maken asked.
