Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister, V Vaithilingam today alleged that the sale of raffle tickets had been taking place at various centres in "violation of the ban" in Puducherry and placed before the Speaker V Sabapathy a bunch of raffle tickets clandestinely sold, in support of his claim.
He sought action to curb the sale of banned tickets.
Vaithilingam also placed before the Speaker some sachets of "gutka" and "hans" in support of his complaints that these products, banned in Puducherry, were available freely in the open market. The government should keep vigil and take the merchants or traders to task.
Participating in the general debate on the budget later, Vaithilingam urged the Chief Minister to adopt the strategy the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi was following in luring the entrepreneurs to start industries here.
