Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Mukesh Sharma today "invited" him to the city's Mohan Garden area to undergo 'Vipassana' session, as he sat on a "hunger strike" to highlight the plight of unauthorised colony residents.
Sharma claimed that the first day of his indefinite fast drew hundreds during which local residents blocked the main Najafgarh Road, prompting police to "forcibly" remove them.
"The people of unauthorised colonies lead their lives in danger due to water-logging. The Delhi government as well as BJP-run MCDs have failed to handle the situation.
"The CM has time to go to the hills for Vipassana but he has no time to meet the poor people of unauthorised colonies. Arvind Kejriwal should do his Vipassana (meditation) in Mohan Garden in the presence of the local residents to understand their plight," Sharma said.
The former Uttam Nagar MLA claimed that he had written letters to the Lt Governor, CM, the Commissioners and Mayors of the three corporations and the DJB chairman raising these issues, but "since they did not respond", he decided to launch the fast.
Kejriwal commenced a 10-day vipassana session at a meditation centre in Dharamkot on August 2.
