BJP's Lok Sabha by-poll candidate Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina today said that Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla has no right to demand votes as his political mentor and Punjab Congress' chief Capt Amarinder Singh has "cheated" the people of the state.

He said people in every section of the society today repent for not voting Arun Jaitley, who brought various developmental projects, despite losing the polls.

In the last Lok Sabha polls, Amarinder had defeated Jaitley from Amritsar seat. However, Amarinder resigned from the seat to protest against the Supreme Court's verdict on river watres of Punjab.

"With what face the Congress nominee will seek votes", asked Chhina as he sought support from the people for bringing him to power so as to reap maximum benefits from the centre.

"Any MP is a representative in the Union government and could fetch grants from centre, but Capt Amarinder's last two and half year in Parliament are marked by absenteeism and he could not bring even one developmental project," Chhina said addressing voters at Chheherta.

During his election rally at his native village, Harsha Chhina in Rajasansi, he claimed that Jaitley paid more visits to Amritsar than Amarinder, despite being on the losing side.

He also enlisted the development projects of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Horticulture Institute and Smart City project brought by Jaitley in Amritsar.

"Ask Amarinder which project they brought for the city and this region," he said.

He claimed that the beautification of Golden Temple by the SAD-BJP government changed the scenario of the state and more development project would pour in as the party is set to form the government yet again.
