Constable killed as truck hits him on Jaipur-Delhi highway

A police constable was killed and another injured when a speeding truck allegedly hit them at a check point on Jaipur-Delhi national highway, police said today.

The policemen tried to stop the overloaded truck in Kotputali area last night but its driver, identified as Bhagwat, did not stop and hit the constables, police said.

Layak Ram (38) died on the spot while Jogendra suffered injuries, SHO Kotputali police station Ravindra Pratap said.

After hitting them, the driver managed to escape from there but was held later and arrested, the SHO said.

The body has been handed over to the family members and funeral was conducted while the injured constable, who got his right leg fractured, is being treated at SMS government hospital in Jaipur, he added.
