Copper falls by 0.4% on profit-booking

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to profit-booking by speculators and a weak global trend

Copper prices fell by 0.38% to Rs 367.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booking profits amidst weak global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April fell by Rs 1.40, or 0.38%, to Rs 370.20 per kg in a business turnover of 319 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in February was down by Rs 1.35, or 0.37%, to Rs 367.50 per kg in 364 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to profit-booking by speculators and a weak global trend.

Moreover, subdued demand in the spot markets also put pressure on the prices of the metal, they said.
 

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months dropped as much as 0.4% to $5,867.50 per tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
