Taking positive cues from global market and pick up in spot demand, copper prices were up by 0.64 per cent to Rs 336.65 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November was up by Rs 2.15, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 336.65 per kg in a business volume of 1,054 lots.
Metal for delivery in far-month February next year gained Rs 2.10, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 341.90 per kg, in a business turnover of 43 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and rising demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets supported the upside.
