Copper futures rose 0.88 per cent to Rs 396.40 per kg in futures trade today as participants raised their bets largely in tune with firming global trend and a pick-up in spot demand.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Rs 3.45, or 0.88 per cent, to Rs 396.40 per kg, with a turnover of 29 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February was up by Rs 3.05, or 0.78 per cent, at Rs 392.65 per kg, with a trade volume of 1748 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend in base metals on the London Metal Exchange and pick-up in demand at domestic spot markets.
