Corporates contribute 18.87 cr to CM Relief Fund

A total of Rs 338.77 crore has been received as contribution towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for flood relief and rehabilitation.

Corporates, including Infrastructure major Larsen and Toubro, today contributed Rs 18.87 crore.

Larsen and Toubro Deputy Managing Director and President S N Subramanian handed over Rs 10.80 crore while Indian Overseas Bank Managing Director and CEO, R Kotteeswaran presented employees' one day salary totalling Rs 4.18 crore to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat here, an official release said.

IDBI Bank Chief General Manager Rabinarayan Pandey handed over Rs 1.25 crore while BHEL Ltd Tiruchirapalli-unit Executive Director S Gopinath contributed Rs 1.63 crore.
 

Bank of India Executive Director R A Sankara Narayanan handed over Rs one crore, the release said.

Chennai and its neighbouring districts witnessed record rainfall in December last year and many people were rendered homeless besides several low lying areas were inundated.

With today's contributions, a total of Rs 338.77 crore has been received towards the fund, the release said.
