Expressing unhappiness at the pace at which the transport department was working in curbing misuse of beacons, a division bench presided by Justice Ashim Kumar Roy directed the transport secretary to appear before it tomorrow.
It sought details on number of cases registered against those misusing red beacons.
The court had on October 19 directed the transport department to publish advertisements in all leading newspapers giving list of those entitled to use beacons.
A state counsel today informed the court that as the department wished to enhance the list of those entitled, the advertisement could not be published.
The bench then directed that the transport secretary appear before it and explain the delay.
