Court awards Rs 7.78 L compensation to accident victim

A court here has awarded a compensation of over Rs 7 lakh to a man, who was injured in an accident in 2011 and could not work for nine months.

Additional Sessions Judge Shivani Jaiswal awarded the compensation of Rs 7.78 lakh to Deepak Kumar Verma last week, government counsel Chaman Prakash Sharma said today.

"The New India Assurance Company has been directed to pay the amount," he said.

On October 25, 2011, Verma was injured when his motorcycle was hit by a car near the Sector-34 central park.

He suffered "grievous" injuries and was in hospital for 12 days. Deepak's uncle Ashok Verma had lodged a police complaint. The victim was 40 years old at the time of accident.
