Press Trust of India Thrissur
: CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today said his party does not approve of 'murder politics' to gain mileage as it does not strengthen the party at all.

He was inaugurating a mass public meeting here today in connection with the 42nd year martyrdom day observance of Azhikodan Raghavan, who was murdered in this town on September 23, 1972.

"CPI(M) does not believe in killing political rivals in gaining mileage as killing rivals does not strengthen the the party at all," he said.

Karat said CPI(M) does not compromise with communalism under any circumstances and its propounders like Sangh Parivar. It was the "relentless fight" by CPI(M) and other left forces that stifled the growth of BJP and Sangh Parivar in Kerala to a great extent, he said.

He stressed the need to mobilise support of all democratic and secular forces to fight against the Narendra Modi Government's "anti-labour, anti-proletarian and pro-rich policies".

Earlier Karat declared open the renovated multi storeyed Azhikodan Raghavan memorial building to house CPI(M)'s district Committee Office building.

CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan presided the function.
