The CPI(M) today criticised the Rajasthan government for arresting farmer leaders belonging to the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), who were protesting against the BJP-led regime in the state.
The Left party "strongly condemned" the "repression" let loose by the Vasundhara Raje government against the protesting farmers and accused it of arresting the farmer leaders in false cases.

The farmers were protesting against the "reneging by the BJP government" on the assurances it had given to them after their struggle in September, 2017 for loan waiver, remunerative prices etc., the Left party said.
It accused the state government of "bulldozing even the minimum democratic right to protest" and said the way the police arrested the farmer leaders revealed the "authoritarian" character of the Raje government.
The CPI(M) demanded the immediate release of all those arrested, withdrawal of the "false" cases against them and acceptance of the legitimate demands of the AIKS.
