Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma today congratulated the eminent personalities who have been conferred Padma awards in the field of art for their efforts and contribution in the promotion of art and culture.
The awards were given at a civil investiture ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Leading vocalist of Carnatic music, Sudha Rangunathan has been conferred with Padma Bhushan. Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, poet-writer-lyricist Prasoon Joshi and music legend of Odisha, Prafulla Kar, have been awarded Padma Shri.
Similarly, pioneer in the field of professional wildlife and conservation filmmaking in India, Naresh Bedi, world's leading expert of traditional textile arts of India, Rahul Jain and Kanyakumari Avasarala, a top ranking Carnatic violinist are also among the recipients of Padma Shri.
The Minister also greeted the personalities who were presented Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards today.
