Customs officials have seized two kilos of gold worth Rs 62.7 lakh in three separate incidents at the airport here and have arrested one person in this regard.
Acting on an tip off, the officials, in the first incident, seized 597 grams of gold with a value of Rs 17.7 lakh, from a passenger who arrived here from Colombo on October 19, an official release said.
Initial investigations revealed that Mohammed Fayiz had concealed two gold rods inside oil containers that was carried by him.

In the second incident, 548 grams of gold worth Rs 16 lakh was seized from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on October 20. The passenger --Seyed Ahamed Sathath had concealed the yellow metal in the undergarment.
Upon his suspicious movement the officials intercepted him and seized the yellow metal, it said.
In the third incident, the officials seized 986 grams of gold worth Rs 29 lakh from Riyaz Pasha who arrived from Riyadh on October 21.
The passenger had concealed the gold in a hairdryer carried in the baggage. Pasha was arrested for the crime, the release added.
