A bank was robbed of Rs 2.5 lakh by two dacoits, who were caught by the local people after the robbery and beaten up in Burdwan town today, police said.
Two dacoits armed with revolvers and their face covered entered the Allahabad Bank, branch located at Diwandighi area of the town at around 11 am, the police said.
After looting the money from the bank which was located in the first floor, when they were getting down, some money fell down and they were collecting the money, when some people caught hold them and started beating them.
The mob started beating the two dacoits till police arrived at the spot and rescued the two dacoits and admitted to Burdwan Medical College Hospital, they added.
