Press Trust of India New Delhi
French food group Danone today announced the launch of global brand Neocate in India used for management of cow milk allergy in infants and young children.

Neocate is a hypoallergenic, amino acid-based formula intended for use in dietary management of cow milk allergy, the most common food allergy in infants and young children globally, the company said in a statement.

The allergy is a result of the body's allergic reaction to protein in cow's milk. It is managed by eliminating cow milk protein from the diet using Neocate.

"Neocate will help to address the growing challenges of healthcare professionals and parents in the management of cow milk allergy," Danone India Managing Director Rodrigo Lima said.

Citing a study conducted in a tertiary care hospital in India, the company said three out of ten children with chronic diarrhoea were estimated to be suffering from this allergy.
