Das says poor should be respected in police station

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said democracy is alive due to the poor, tribals, dalits and the disadvantaged, whom he termed as the "fifth pillar" of the democracy.

Addressing a function after distributing the appointment letters to police Sub-Inspectors at the state secretariat here, Das said the poor should be respected in the police station.

Due to the poor, tribals, dalits, exploited, disadvantaged and victims, democracy is alive. They are the fifth pillar of our democracy. They are entitled to honour," he said.

"We have to create such a police in Jharkhand, which becomes famous all over the country for its skills, Das added.

 

The Chief Minister said that contact with people should be maintained because this would also improve the law and order situation in the region and advised the new recruits to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty, an official release said quoting Das.

The Chief Minister said that till date 11,451 appointments were made in the police department since 2014, which include posts of police sub-inspectors, operators, wireless operators, assistant police, and deputy superintendents of police.

Today, 2,645 police sub-inspectors were given appointment letters. Eighty-three of them are residents of Jharkhand. Though the rest seventeen percent are from outside states, they are also living in Jharkhand for three generations. In this way, 100 per cent of the appointments were made by people of Jharkhand.

There are 223 women among the newly appointed Police sub-inspectors.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary to Home Department SKG Rahate and Director General of Police D K Pandey also addressed the newly appointed police Sub-Inspectors.
