The Delhi government has constituted a separate body which will have the mandate to name government roads and institutions, Urban Development Minister Satyendar Jain said today.

Lt. Governor Anil Baijal has given his approval for the formation of the 'State Naming Authority' to be headed by the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, he said.

The proposal of the 'State Naming Authority' had been pending with the Lt Governor office for a long time, the UD minister said.

"The 'State Naming Authority' will have the power to take decision to name government roads and institutions. The authority will have a total of 34 members, including chairman and vice-chairman. The urban development minister will be its vice-chairman," Jain told reporters here.

The Union Home Secretary, the Union HRD Secretary, the DDA vice-chairman, the Delhi PWD secretary and the Delhi Principal Secretary (Home) will also be among its members.

All three municipal corporations in the city have already formed their separate naming committees which take decision to name roads and institutions under their jurisdiction.
