Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met the organisers of 'Phool Walon Ki Sair' at the Secretariat here today and lauded the festival's message of harmony, and assured the delegation that his government would support the fair next time.
"Festivals like 'Phool Waalon Ki Sair' are very relevant in the present scenario when there is an attempt to create an atmosphere of hatred in our society. It is great that the festival spreads message of love, peace and harmony; we need to spread the message to each and every citizen," the Chief Minister said.
"The culture of celebrating festivals of all religion must be adopted by all people in the society," he added.
Several office-bearers of the festival organiser Anjuman Sair-e-Gul Faroshan visited the Delhi Secretariat and presented floral 'pankhas' to Kejriwal and Chief Secretary K K Sharma.
The week-long festival, celebrated as a symbol of composite culture, is attended by Hindus and Muslims together.
Floral 'chaadar' and 'pankha' are offered at the Dargah of Khwaja Bakhtiar 'Kaaki' in Mehrauli. 'Chhatra' (canopy) and 'pankha' are offered at the ancient temple of Devi Yogmaya, also in Mehrauli, during the festival.
