Heatwave conditions prevailed in the national capital with the mercury touching 44 degrees Celsius today in some parts of the city making life tough for Delhiites.
The Safdarjung observatory, whose recording is considered the official figure for the city, registered a maximum temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.
Areas under Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar observatories recorded maximum temperatures of 44.2, 42.3, 42.6 and 43.5 degrees Celsius, respectively, said a MeT department official.
The minimum temperature settled at 28 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal, the official said.
The humidity level oscillated between 59 and 19 per cent.
The MeT office forecast overcast conditions for tomorrow with the likelihood of developments of thunder and lightning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 40 and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weatherman said.
According to the MeT office, one or two spells of thunderstorm and dust storm are likely to occur over Delhi and NCR till May 11 evening.
Yesterday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum settled at 42.8 degrees Celsius.
