Light rains accompanied by thunderstorm lashed some parts of the national capital today bringing the mercury down and making the weather pleasant.
At 5.30 PM, after the rains ebbed, the mercury plunged to 19 degrees, dipping by over nine degrees from the maximum temperature of 28.4 degrees recorded earlier.
"The maximum temperature was recorded at 28.4 degrees Celsius today. However after the rains, the mercury hovered at 19 degrees at 5.30 PM," a senior MeT department official said.
The minimum temperature in the city was pegged at 14.6 degrees, normal for this time of the year.
The Safdarjung observatory, recording of which is considered the official figure for the city, received 2.7 mm rainfall till 5.30 PM, the official said.
Areas under Lodhi Road, Palam and Ridge recorded rains measuring 4.3 mm, 9.9 mm and 2.4 mm rainfall respectively in the same period.
The areas which come under the purview of Ayanagar observatory have not received any rainfall.
The humidity oscillated between 96 and 45 per cent.
The MeT office has predicted overcast conditions with the likelihood of "moderate" rain towards the afternoon and evening tomorrow.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 26 and 14 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded at 18.4 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
