Senior CPI(M) leader and MLA M Y Tarigami today questioned the "silence" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the "disturbing situation" in Kashmir and asked all democratic forces in the country to raise their voice against the "oppression".
"All the democratic forces must raise their voices against the oppression. The Prime Minister continues to remain silent. It conveys what? Ignorance or arrogance?," Tarigami said in a statement.
The CPI(M) leader asserted that opposition forces in the parliament must speak louder and make this government "accountable" and make Prime Minister to break his "silence".
Tarigami said "inhuman and irresponsible attitude" would only aggravate the protests in the trouble torn valley.
"The fresh killings in Kashmir and the administrative response to it speaks volumes of inhuman and irresponsible attitude of the administration towards the rising wave of protests in the valley," he said while calling for a dialogue with all the stake holders for political settlement of Kashmir.
"Let it be noted that there is simply one solution to this festering wound that is political settlement acceptable to all the contenders and for that a meaningful institutionalised dialogue process with all stake holders must be initiated," he said.
Three persons were killed and scores of others injured in fresh wave of violence in the valley yesterday, taking the death toll in the ongoing unrest to 54.
The protests broke out a day after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in an encounter with security forces on July 8.
