Devotee killed as idol falls on devotees

A 42-year old devotee was crushed to death and three others injured when a 25-feet idol of a temple being taken in a procession fell on them in Oruvandur village in neighbouring Namakkal District today, police said.

The idol of Chellandi Amman was being taken in the procession by around 100 devotees when it suddenly collapsed, killing 42-year old Ramachandran.

Three injured persons had been admitted to government hospital in Namakkal.
