Tamil Nadu Director General of Police Ashok Kumar today held a law and order review meeting here with top police officials of nine southern districts.
The review took place at a time when the entire opposition in the state had been highly critical of the law and order situation in the state pointing to series of burglaries, robberies and caste-related murders in different places.
The meeting reviewed the situation in general in the southern districts.

Talking to reporters, the DGP said he had given strict instructions to the police officials to register cases on complaints, failing which departmental action would be taken.
He said Police were taking quick steps to resolve the crimes reported in the state.
Regarding slow progress in the investigation of cyber crime cases, he said there were some technical problems in investigating the web-site related complaints, and once the problems were solved, they would move at a faster pace.
The Supereintendents of Police from nine southern districts participated in the meeting.
Besides IGP Abhaykumar Singh and DIG Anandhkumar Somani, city commissioner Shylesh Kumar Yadav also participated in the meeting.
