Twenty-five inmates of the district jail, six of whom are serving life terms, have been shifted to the Agra central jail for allegedly running an extortion racket from the prison premises.
Jail superintendent Rakesh Singh said the inmates were using mobile phones for extorting money.
The step has been taken after a green light from state jail authorities, he said.
