Barring certain minor incidents,the polling for zilla and taluk panchayat elections in Dakshina Kannada district was by and large peaceful, police sources said today.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) district working presidentJagadish Shenava's car was attacked following a verbal clash between BJP and Congressactivists at Addoor near here.
The incident occurred after BJP candidate Harish Moodusheddecame to the polling booth.

A few Congress activists attacked Shenava's car and in which the rear windshield of the car got damaged, police said, adding that they managed to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, verbal clashes between SDPI andCongress activists took place at Ammemar in Padu zilla panchayat.
On receiving information, DistrictSuperintendent of police S Sharanappa visited the spot.
Polling for the zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections began at 7 am today in DK, Udupi andother districts in the western region.
The districtadministration had made elaborate arrangements to ensuresmooth polling and poll.
