In-laws and husband of a married woman, who was allegedly killed by them for dowry, were today arrested while cremating the body of the 23-year-old woman surreptitiously, police said.
Pooja, daughter of Bishan Pal of village Nanpur under Garh Mukteshwar police station was married to Yogesh of village Bhood Gadhi which falls under the limits of Mussorie police station two-and-a-half years ago, police said.
Pooja died under mysterious circumstances last night and her in-laws took her body for cremation without informing her parents and pretended her death as natural, they said.
Meanwhile, the deceased's parents got the information and complained to Mussorie police about the incident. Later, police intercepted Pooja's in-laws and doused the pyre, they said, adding that the half-burnt body of the women was recovered and was sent for post mortem.
According to SHO Virender Yadav, police have registered a case of dowry death and accused husband and other in-laws have been arrested.
