Man being questioned over killing of a 85-year old woman

One person was today taken into custody for questioning over the death of a 85-year-old woman, allegedly beaten by him at Selvapuram in the city.

Police said the woman had lent Rs 1,000 to the man, a tailor, and was repeatedly asking him to return the money.

As she demanded money this morning also, the man, who offered to pay a part of the money, allegedly hit her, following an argument, resulting in her death, police said.

Based on a complaint by the deceased woman's daughter, a case was registered and the man taken into custody for questioning, police said.
