: Dr Archana Mukherjee, an internationally reputed biotechnologist has taken charge as the first woman Director of ICAR-Central Tuber crops Research Institute, here.
Dr Mukherjee entered the Agricultural Research Service in 1986 and later became the head, regional centre of CTCRI, Bubaneswar.
She has many national and international recognitions, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Award, German Foundation Scholarship for advanced training in bio tech, a press release said.

She is also the county leader for International Network for Edible Aroids (INEA), which operates in 22 countries.
The 16 varieties of tuber crops those she developed are widely popular across the nation due to their climate resilient and nutrient rich attributes.
The high beta carotene and anthocyanin rich sweet potato and micro nutrients rich taro developed by her are promising varieties to mitigate malnutrition.
