Rapper Drake has been sued by a film company for allegedly sabotaging the release of its documentary titled "Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage".

The film "features concert footage from a 2009 show in Toronto... And new interviews with people like Jas Prince ... who discovered Drake," reported TMZ.

In a series of tweets on Monday, March 16, Drake stated he was not part of the film and urged fans not to watch it when it is debuted on theaters Thursday, March 19.

"The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in. I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans," so read one of the rapper's tweets.

The music star then added shortly thereafter, "James Prince and I stand together on not supporting the Drake Homecoming footage in theatres. #protectingthefans."

Specticast, which has distributed the film, has filed the legal lawsuit accusing Drake of obstructing the documentary to draw attention to his Twitter page because shortly after launching the attack, he started tweeting about ticket sales for his OVO Fest this summer.
