'Dreaded' criminal arrested

A dreaded criminal active in Western UP and carrying a reward due to his alleged involvement in several criminal cases has been arrested by the police.

Shera Pehalwan, carrying a reward of Rs 5,000, was nabbed last night by the Crime Branch and Police from Vijay Nagar area.

"After getting a tip-off that the criminal will be passing through Vijay Nagar area, the Crime Branch informed the police station of the area," said Inspector Rajesh Dwivedi of Crime Branch.

A trap was laid and Pehalwan was arrested with a country- made pistol and some live cartridges, police said.

Pehalwan is also wanted by the Rajasthan Police.
