Drug peddler held in Punjab

A man was arrested on charges of drug peddling here today and 100 gram intoxicating powder, 90 capsules and 70 intoxicating tablets were seized from his possession, a police officer said.

The accused was identified as Vishal alias Shaili, a resident of local Mehligate, said Sadar SHO Lakhvir Singh.

Shaili was arrested yesterday during a checkpost ('naka') on national highway 1 where police had laid a trap based on a tip off, the SHO said.

Singh said the accused was arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
