The administration has been taking all steps to prevent the spread of Avian Flu although there has been no reports of outbreak of the disease in Erode, District Collector, Dr S Prabakaran said today.
"Though there is no report of Bird's flu in Erode district, the district administration through the Animal Husbandry department is taking steps to prevent the disease. As usual, eggs are dispatched from the poultry farms to Kerala and are also being sold locally without any difficulty", he told reporters here.
A check post has already been functioning at Bannari, near Sathyamangalam and vehicles from Karnataka state are being sprayed with bird flu disinfectants, he said, adding, two more check posts at Kadambur and Burgur in the district would be erected in a day or two.
