Effigy of Ahluwalia burnt in Darjeeling

The Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) today burnt the effigy of Darjeeling MP and MoS Parliamentary Affairs Surendrajeet Singh Ahluwalia in the heart of the city here.

Raising slogans against Ahluwalia, GNLF cadres said during the agitation that "this MP has been fooling the people of the hills...Initially he had said that Gorkhaland bill needed to be passed by the state legislature.

"Now he is saying that being a minister he cannot introduce the bill... This is nothing but treating us as fools."

GNLF has been seeking 6th Scheduled status for the GTA region.
