Workers of the BJP's youth and women's wings today burnt an effigy of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for his recent comments criticising India's foreign policy in the wake of the Uri terror attack.
Sarkar, who is also a Politburo member of the CPI(M), had said India is playing the role of a big brother with its neighbouring countries, during a seminar last week.
The rally organised by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha was taken out from Moulali to Alimuddin Street here in protest of Manik Sarkar's "anti-national" comments.

An effigy of Sarkar was burnt and slogans were raised against the CPI(M) denouncing it as an "anti-national" political outfit.
"While the whole nation has condemned the dastardly terrorist attack at Uri carried out by Pakistan, CPI(M) Chief Minister of Tripura Manik Sarkar has made a blatant anti-national statement, condemning India for carrying out 'dadagiri' on neighboring countries.
"We have seen what role they had played during the Indo-China war in 1962, when they openly supported China. CPI(M) should be alienated from the masses." BJYM state president Tushar Kanti Ghosh said.
The CPI(M) also took out a counter rally along the Alimuddin Street against the BJYM.
