A 62-Year old woman today caused a flutter when she attempted to set herself ablaze using kerosene, to protest against alleged police inaction on her complaint in a land grabbing case, at the collectorate.

Police on duty there prevented her from doing so and took her to the police station, police said.

The woman alleged that her acquaintance Ganesan, an autorickshaw driver and his wife Kalavathi requested her to give the document of her house site for buying a car. Besides, they took her signature in several papers.

A few days later she was shocked to learn that the land had been grabbed by the couple.

Inspite of her complaints to the police several times, no action had been taken, she alleged.

Frustrated over this, she tried to immolate herself even as the officials were hearing the grievances of the public.
