Elderly woman raped, robbed in Puntamba village

In a shocking incident, an 85-year-old woman was allegedly raped and robbed in Puntamba village of North Maharashtra's Ahmednagar district today, police said.

She was rushed to the Pravara Medical College Hospital, the police said.

The elderly woman was at her residence when some unidentified persons entered her house around 1 AM this morning, raped her, looted Rs 2,400 cash and also attempted to strangle her.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sunita Thakare who rushed to the spot told reporters that efforts are on to nab the accused persons.
