: A 21-year old woman mill worker who planned to elope with her Assamese co worker and paramour has been rescued and handed over to a woman's home here.

A patrol noticed her standing with two men near the bus stand here late last night. One of them told police on being questioned that they were in love and planned to elope and go to his native state of Assam as the woman's parents were against the marriage.

All of them who are workers at a mill in Ettayapuram in Tuticorin district, came here and were in a state of confusion on where to go and landed in police custody, the man said

While both men were let off after a stern warning, the woman was handed over to a women's home, police said.

Meanwhile, police has alerted their counterparts in Ettayapuram, who had received a missing complaint from the woman's parents on the issue, they said.
