Emami Ltd will continue to focus on wellness-centric products in future to propel growth in business, the FMCG major has said.
The company's wellness-centric product strategy has helped it emerge as "one of the most profitable" FMCG firms, Emami said in the annual report for the 2018-19 fiscal.
"Emami's growth was spearheaded by a basket of wellness-centric products and conveniences. Over the years, the relative first mover's advantage translated into enhanced recall, increased market share, attractive revenue growth and superior as well as sustainable margins," Founders R S Agarwal and R S Goenka said in the report.
The Kolkata-based company intends to take its wellness journey ahead, Managing Director Sushil Goenka said.
"We believe that an increasing number of companies will need to accommodate wellness in their business strategy just as the need for a broader environmental responsibility...," Agarwal and Goenka said.
"At Emami, we have responded with urgency in addressing opportunities related to wellness growth and expansion," they added.
Giving an outlook for the current fiscal, the company said it is optimistic with trade channels regaining vitality after the GST and improved global trade scenario.
