Employee alleges assault by civic body head in roll revision

A state government employee was allegedly assaulted by the Vice-Chairman of TMC-run local municipalty in Malda district during electoral roll revision today.

Block Development Officer Dulen Roy said the employee Rathin Das complained of being assaulted by the Old Malda Municipalty Vice-Chairman Swadhin Ghose and his supporters when he asked them not to crowd the corridor of a government building where the roll revision process was taking place.

Das, a chowkidar, was assisting in the roll revision process undertaken by senior government officials.

Ghosh, when contacted, refuted the allegation and instead blamed Das of misbehaving with him.

Police said no formal complaint has been lodged as yet.
