Employee dies during demo at Sastha Bhavan, office ransacked

A state government employee died during a protest at Sastha Bhavan, the state health department headquarters here today which led to the ransacking of the office of the health secretary.

The health department employees were protesting against transfer of 67 of their colleagues when one of them, who was among the agitators fell ill suddenly and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, Bidhannagar police commissionerate officers said.

Following the death, the protestors allegedly ransacked health secretary Anil Vermas chamber at the Sastha Bhawan.

A huge force from the Bidhanngar Police Commissionerate was deployed, the officers said.
