Former city mayor Devendra Bhadana today opened fire on his nephew in Anangpur village over a property-related dispute, police said.
Dipanshu was at his shop this evening when Bhadana and his associates reached there and thrashed him.
The former mayor then shot his nephew.
Dipanshu was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, a police spokesperson said.
His family alleged Bhadana had usurped their land and Dipanshu had been protesting against it.
The police said a case against the former mayor will be registered once Dipanshu records his statement.
