Excise officials seize 300 cartons of whiskey in UP

A truck carrying 300 cartons of alleged smuggled whiskey was seized here today, officials said.

The officials from excise department intercepted the vehicle on the highway near here and seized 300 cartons of alleged smuggled whiskey, officials said.

The district excise officer Harendra Singh said that the excise officials intercepted the vehicle with Haryana licence here.

The truck was loaded with 300 'petis' of whiskey which was smuggled from Haryana and supplied to Muzaffarnagar district, Singh said.

The accused left the truck and ran from the spot, Singh said, adding the search is underway.
