Press Trust of India Thiruvananthapuram
The Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) today slammed the Congress-led UPA government for compromising on the interests of country's farmers during the recent WTO convention in Bali, Indonesia.

In a resolution passed at the ongoing 9th National Convention here, SJM wanted the Government to come out with a detailed statement on the agreement in Bali and its implications for the country.

The Centre has compromised the interests of its farmers as well as agreeing to the trade facilitation agreement. The government has done so without any quid pro quo on behalf of the developed countries whatsoever, the resolution said.

This agreement would in fact encourage food-grain imports, sealing the fate of Indian farmers and worsening the payment crisis, the resolution claimed.
