Father-son duo allegedly killed by bootleggers in Morbi

A 60-year-old man and his 30-year-old son were allegedly killed by a gang of bootleggers in Morbi city of the district today, police said.

The deceased were identified as Govind Ganeshiya (60) and his son Chandu (30). They were allegdly killed by a gang led by Ashok Varania and his brother Ramesh, said the police.

"Ashok and Ramesh are involved in bootlegging and they had asked Govind to join their business. When Govind denied, the accused duo and their men attacked him and his family members today morning at his residence," said police sub-inspector N S Malek.

They attacked Ganeshiya family with sticks, iron pipes and sharp weapons. It left Govind severely injured, while his three sons, Chandu, Gopal (27) and Nitin (24) also sustained injuries, said Malek.
 

"The four were rushed to Rajkot civil hospital, where Govind was declared dead, while Chandu succumbed to injuries few hours later. We have lodged an FIR against Varania brothers and their accomplices," said Malek, adding that all the accused were still absconding.
