A woman Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a constable were today caught by Lokayukta Police here while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a woman to settle a dowry case.

The duo took the bribe from the woman to settle a dowry case filed against her son and herself by her daughter-in-law.

ASI Anju Bakshi, in-charge of the women's desk at Sanyogitaganj Police Station, and Constable Sunita Khatri had demanded Rs 5,000 from one Rekha Bishnoi to settle the case, a Lokayukta officer said.

Bakshi also threatened Bishnoi that if she did not pay the amount she will put her and the son behind bars, he said.

Bishnoi agreed to make the payment and at the same time lodged a complaint with Lokayukta Police, which laid a trap and caught Sunita taking the first installment of Rs 2,000 in the police station premises. The anti-graft police force later took Bakshi in custody, the officer said.

Lokayukta Police have filed a case against the duo under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
