One person was injured after a glass pane fell on him when unidentified persons opened fire and targetted a diamond showroom here triggering panic in the area, police said today.
The incident took place late last night when the motorcycle borne assailants fired four rounds at the showroom damaging its glass pane which fell over a man standing nearby causing injuries to him, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sandhya Roy said.
The victim identified as Ayush Soni was taken to the hospital for treatment.
While the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet, the pillion was masked. They escaped from the spot after the incident, police said.
Few days ago, an unidentified caller had threatened the showroom owner Sunil Soni over phone, the official said adding search is on to nab the accused.
